| There is an established Open College Network training programme delivered by the Forest School Leader Training Company The aim is to provide quality training opportunities for teaching staff who wish to gain more skills and confidence engaging youngsters in their own learning process in a woodland environment. The second of two Forest School Leader Training courses aimed at Edinburgh Teachers (primary, secondary or special) is due to commence in Sept. 07 - Feb. 08 please contact Jenny Watters for details, dates and the application process. |

| Burnhouse provides West Lothian with Forest School Training | ||

| March '07 Burnhouse School in West Lothian has secured a funding through Ambitious Schools to provide a Forest School Leader Training course for teaching staff throughout West Lothian. The Open College Network accredited course which is being provided through the Forest School Leader Training Company is commencing in March. The course is being hosted at Oatridge College who have kindly offered their venue and woodlands for the training purposes at a discounted rate. Over the next 8 months the course participants will undergo a 2 day emergency first aid course, a 5 day intensive Forest School Leader Training course, 3 days extended practical skills course with peer assessment, assessment of their practical sessions with youngsters and finally a coursework submission covering a range of topics from Health & Safety to Child Development in an outdoor setting.
